Therapeutic Exercise

You will be taught how to perform the exercises until you know how to do them on your own without the chiropractor looking over you. Then of course, you just have to keep up with it as prescribed by the chiropractor.

These exercises are prescribed because it reduces pain, prevent muscle deterioration, promote joint health, increase strength, stability and range of motion, as well as defense for new or recurring injuries.

Therapeutic Stretches

Just like on therapeutic exercises, chiropractors will guide patients until they can do the stretches on their own. And when you do, doing it regularly or as prescribed prevents scar tissue from forming, and keeps your tissues flexible and increases mobility after an injury.

Traction

In order to separate the vertebrae that is causing the disc decompression and reduces nerve root pressure, chiropractors utilizes a traction device to distract the affected area of the spine.

Soft Tissue Manual Therapy

Active Release Technique (ART) and instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization (Graston Technique) are two hands-on soft tissue therapies that chiropractors uses in order to improve the function of your muscles, ligaments, tendons, and joint capsules.

Physical Therapy Modalities

·Muscle Stimulation

Chiropractors also find stimulating the muscles of patients using light electrical pulses that are transmitted to specific areas of their body helpful. Although depending on the patient’s condition, this treatment can reduce the inflammation, relief the pain, while some uses it to deal with muscle spasm.

TENS

Transcutaneous Electric Nerve Stimulation or TENS relieves the patient’s pain through stimulating the muscles using a battery-powered, portable machine. Many patients suffers severe acute pain are the ones who usually use this. But for those who experiences chronic pain this is not advisable to use for treatment.

 Ice/Heat Therapy

Right after an injury occurred, using ice therapy lessens the swelling and minimizes the pain. But if the intention is to relax the muscles, increase circulation, and get relief from chronic pain, heat therapy is a better treatment. On the other hand, the combination of both may be better depending on the condition that an individual is in.

·Ultrasound

Speaking of heat therapy, another heat therapy that other chiropractor suggest is ultrasound. The sound waves producing therapeutic form of micro-massage lessens inflammation, increases blood flow, and relieves pain, stiffness and spasm.
·Diet and Nutritional Counseling

Chiropractic care don’t just focus on administering spinal adjustments or outside causes of health conditions. They know as well that having a healthy diet and proper nutrition is important to help the body fight illnesses like heart disease, stroke, diabetes, and cancer.

Because of that, they are trained to give counseling to patients that shows poor diet and nutrition. They can design a nutritional program that fits the patient in order avoid the said risks and maintain good health.

Lifestyle Modification Counseling

Moreover, chiropractors also know that some people have poor health because they lead a poor lifestyle. A chiropractor can talk to you about it and recommend strategies to turn your life around to a healthier one.
